Ever play il sette e mezzo? Or scopa? On Thursday, January 29, the CIAO gang expanded its horizons by sitting down for rousing Italian card games, like Italian Black Jack and Italian Gin Rummy.
Turns out Bee's quite the card shark. Or maybe cookies just really motivate her.
Il sette e mezzo is Italy's version of Black Jack. You can play with a regular deck of American cards. Instead of playing to 21, the goal is for your cards to add up to 7 1/2, "sette e mezzo". The game is played with only 40 cards, so take out all Jokers, 9's, 10's, and 8's. All face cards (Kings, Queens, and Jacks) are with 1/2 a point. All numbered cards 3-7 are worth their normal value, and 2's and Aces are wild, and can be any value you'd like them to be.
Just like Black Jack, the first card is dealt face down, and you may choose to hit or stay,basta or ancora.
As always, a good time was had by all, and a great many cookies were eaten.
