This past Thursday at Ciao, Dr. Lynne Lancaster came into to talk to Ciao about Roman obelisks. She had a great presentation and some really interesting connections between how Roman Archaeology and the layout of Rome have many connections with placement, time periods, and events throughout the Empire.
Some of her sketches while working in the field.
Obelisks from the Four Fountains in Rome.
It's not in Rome, but it's an obelisk.
Tonight (Thursday) for Ciao we are playing Bocce Ball! Meet at the College Green Monument at 7pm sharp. There will also be a picnic as well! See you then!
Bee Jenkins did an awesome presentation on fashion in Italy, covering many different time periods and showing the evolution of styles that are known to set trends throughout the world. There are only a few pics, however the presentation was awesome!
The posts have been lagging, apologies. However, Ciao has been having some great meetings filled with food, fun, etc. Also, elections were held! Congrats to the new board next year, we're sure they'll have some great events going on for the 2010-2011 school year. Here are some pictures from pasta night:
Pictures from the past couple meetings with be up later tonight, but for now we are blogging to inform readers that our donation to GlobalGiving.org was made today.
